Address Book-    An address book or a name and address book (NAB) is a book or a database used for storing entries called contacts.

                                                               

Archiving- An archive is a collection of historical records, as well as the place they are located

                                                                                        
Attachment-   Attachment is a file that has been attached to an email.


                                 


Distribution List- Function of email clients where lists of email addresses are used to email everyone on the list at once.
                                                                                       

Electronic Mail (email) - a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients.
                                       
E-mail Address  -   An e-mail address identifies an email box to which e-mail messages may be delivered.

                                                               

Instant messaging-   form of real-time direct text-based communication between two or more people using shared clients.

                                   

Mailing List- a collection of names and addresses used by an individual or an organization to send material to multiple recipients.

                                                                                          


Packets-   a formatted unit of data carried by a packet mode computer network.


                    
Signature- is a file that can be incorporated into your e-mail such that each time you send an e-mail, the file is attached at the bottom.


                                     
                                                                                  
Spam-the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately.


Text Messaging- he exchange of brief written messages between fixed-line phone or mobile phone and fixed or portable devices over a network.

                                                                                           

User Agent- a client application implementing a network protocol used in communications within a client server distributed computing system.

                                                                               

Windows Mail- an e-mail and newsgroup client included in Windows Vista that was superseded by Windows Live Mail. It is the successor to Outlook Express.

                                                            


Filtering- a computer program to process a data stream. Some operating systems such as UNIX are rich with filter programs.

Fraud- deliberate trickery intended to gain an advantage



Hoax-usually consists of an email message warning recipients about a new and terribly destructive virus.

                                                          
                   
Logic Bomb- a piece of code intentionally inserted into a software system that will set off a malicious function when specified conditions are met.
                                


Netiquette- a set of social conventions that facilitate interaction over networks, ranging from Usenet and mailing lists to blogs and forums.


Phishing-The act of sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft.


Pyramid Schemes- In the classic pyramid scheme, participants attempt to make money solely by recruiting new participants into the program.

RDF Summary-A syndication format that was developed by Netscape in 1999 and became very popular for aggregating updates to blogs and the news sites.


Tagging-in online computer systems terminology, a tag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information




Teleconferencing- a conference of people who are in different locations that is made possible by the use of such telecommunications equipment as closed-circuit television



Time Bomb-A malicious program that is programmed to detonate at a specific time and release a virus onto the computer system or network.
Trojan horse-is software that appears to perform a desirable function for the user prior to run or install, but steals information or harms the system


                                           

Urban Legend-As a general rule, acting on forwarded email warnings is not one of the best ways to protect yourself from viruses  and not just because the majority of such warnings are hoaxes


Virus-a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer. The term virus is also commonly but erroneously used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have the reproductive ability.



Worm- a self-replicating malware computer program, which uses a computer network to send copies of itself to other nodes and it may do so without any user intervention.
